This is a short reminder of our final Jazz Cabaret of this season. We have had a great year of bringing jazz to the Mt. Vernon Room at St. Barnabas. We are ending this season with another theme program. Dane Vannatter, one of the country’s great cabaret singers, will be doing an evening of music with songs of Rodgers and Hart. Accompanying Dane are three superb musicians – Daniel May on keyboard, Anton DeFade on bass, and Dr. James Moore on trumpet. This group represents some of the very best of the musicians in this region.

Stay tuned for the “kick off” for our next season. On Friday, August 11, 2017, the Cabaret will move to a concert setting on the stage of the Kean Theatre. We will be presenting Joe Negri and his music. More info to follow.
“Spring is Here” was written in 1930 by two renowned songwriters, Once again we celebrate that song and the season! The songwriters were Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart and on May 17, 2017 we revisit that song and many other of their pop hits. This is the closing of our third season of the Jazz Cabaret at St. Barnabas. What a finale!
Dane Vannatter, noted cabaret performer, is returning to do a “theme show”. Before there was a Rodgers and Hammerstein collaboration, there was the original duo of Rodgers and Hart. Rodgers and Hart wrote over 300 songs and 28 musicals for Broadway. Dane will be performing an entire evening of Rodgers and Hart songs. Their songs have become “standards” in the Great American Songbook. Most of their songs have evolved into “jazz standards”.
Dane will be bringing an outstanding group of accompanists with him – Daniel May, keyboard, Anton DeFade on bass, and Dr. James Moore on trumpet. I cannot begin to find the words to describe the musical talents of this quartet. I suggest you attend to hear the interpretations of the songs of Rodgers and Hart by these artists AND support the “Free Care Fund” for St. Barnabas patients.
