Jazz Cabaret at St. Barnabas: Celebrating Joe Negri – August 11, 2017

Good afternoon Jazz Cabaret friends,

We are quickly approaching the grand soiree that celebrates Joe Negri and his music. This is a step-up from our “Cabaret setting” to more of a “concert setting”. Joe will be performing in the Kean Theatre. The program will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with a cash bar in the Mt. Vernon Room 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. The bar will be closed and due to a brief intermission will not be open for intermission service. There is no food or drink allowed in the Theatre.

The evening begins with a few words of tribute by Dr. Ed Kocher, former dean of the Duquesne University School of Music. Bob Studebaker, announcer and jazz presenter on WESA, will give a few personal notes and then a comment or two from Billy Hillgrove – the voice of the Pitt Panthers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jim Roddey will present proclamations from the City, County, State, and U.S. Senate.

Following these spoken words, Joe will play as he has for the past 80 years, only better than ever!! Joe’s side-men are Max Leake on piano, Tom Wendt on drums, and Tony DePaolis on bass (and vocals). Perhaps Dane Vannatter will grace us with a song or two.
