Jazz Cabaret at St. Barnabas – January 28, 2015

We are pleased to announce our next Jazz Cabaret at St. Barnabas. On January 28, 2015, we are excited to present Eric and Kelley DeFade with pianist Rich Gallagher as our visiting artists. The DeFade name has been recognized in the jazz musical circles of Pittsburgh for many decades. Eric has appeared as a jazz saxophonists on several Grammy winning CDs and his musical bio reads like a “who’s who” listing with dozens of great musicians. Kelley joins this great musical family bringing a lilting vocie to blend with and add to Eric’s marvelous musical talents. Rick Gallagher brings a rich and lyrical sound to the trio and a solid background and history of jazz presentation locally and nationally.

The previous Jazz Cabarets have been very successful and we expect to continue to grow this musical and charitable endeavor. We are doing this because we want to promote jazz and increase the jazz audience in the region – AND support the “Free Care Fund” for the patients of St. Barnabas who have outlived their finances.

Time: 7:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
Place: Mt. Vernon Room (Kean Theatre annex),
Washington Place, 5847 Meridian Road, Gibsonia, 15044
Cost: $12.50 per person.
This includes cash bar, free appetizers and parking.

Please join us in a recreation of a 50’s jazz club and keeping jazz alive and well while contributing to a worthy cause.

Just a “heads up” for the upcoming Jazz Cabaret at St. Barnabas which will be held next Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Washington Place – the Mt. Vernon Room – 5847 Meridian Road, Gibsonia, PA 15044.

We are very excited to present the Dane Vannatter Trio. Accompanying Dane is the masterful pianist, Max Leake, and the rhythmical and graceful stylings of bassist, Tony DePaolis. Together, these musicians create an ambiance comparable to any jazz club today or in the past.

The starting time is 7:00 p.m. but we would suggest an early arrival to be assured a good seat. The parking is free along with free snacks. There is a cash bar with very nimble bartenders.

You can experience this delightful evening of music and conviviality for only $12.50 /person – AND – as always, you will be contributing to the Free Care Fund which provides for patients at the St. Barnabas Nursing Homes who can no longer afford their care.

Please join us for a lovely evening of melodic music with Dane Vannatter, Pittsburgh’s newest singing sensation, and know you are supporting a worthy cause by helping the less fortunate.

Jazz Cabaret at St. Barnabas – November 5, 2014

The next Jazz Cabaret at St. Barnabas will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Kean Theatre annex – the Mt. Vernon Room – Washington Place, located at 5847 Meridian Road, Gibsonia, PA 15044.
The first show on July 30th with Donna Bailey was such a success that we are now asking that you RSVP via e-mail (e-mail address below) or via our website contact form.
Please get in touch early so you will be assured a seat.

The upcoming presentation promises to be an even bigger event than the last (falling as that one did during the peak vacation time, etc.). The formula is pretty much the same – great musicians singing and playing songs from the Great American Songbook that we all enjoy, free savory hors d’oeuvres and parking, and a cash bar. The time has shortened slightly – 7:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. All this for the reasonable fee of $12.50 per person, $25.00 per couple.

The presenting group is The Dane Vannatter Trio. Dane is an extraordinary performer, relatively new to Pittsburgh. He has had glowing reviews in the Boston Globe, the New York Post, and Back Stage. Carol Sloane, a renowned jazz vocalist on Concord Records, refers to Dane as “my favorite among new, young male singers”. His stage presence, warmth, and song interpretation are second to none. His accompanists, Max Leake and Tony DePaolis, are Pittsburghers and greatly sought after, playing with outstanding musical artists here and abroad.

In addition to having a great evening of music, you will also be contributing to the “Free Care Fund” which provides for patients at the St. Barnabas Nursing Homes who can no longer afford their care.

Come spend an evening with us in the old style ambiance-elegance of a jazz club – and know you are supporting a worthy cause by helping the less fortunate.

Jazz Cabaret at St. Barnabas – July 30, 2014

We are “go” for the inaugural Jazz Cabaret at St. Barnabas. This is a reminder to those who received our first e-blast and a note to all of the jazz lovers we haven’t contacted previously. We are working with the St. Barnabas Health System to present jazz – vocal and instrumental – in a quiet, romantic setting.

Our plan is to present this program quarterly. The Donna Bailey Trio will perform for the first show on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. The Dane Vannatter Trio will follow in late October.

The admission fee is $25.00 per couple or $12.50 for single admission. Cash or checks preferred. Please make checks payable to the Kean Theatre. Time: 7 – 10 p.m. Come early, there is no reserved seating. A cash bar will be available as well as free hors d’oeuvres and parking. The Cabaret will be in the Mt. Vernon Room – the annex of the Kean Theatre at the Washington Place of St. Barnabas, located at 5847 Meridian Road, Gibsonia, PA 15044.

We have sponsorship for the first performances but can always use more financial backing. So, if you are so inclined, please contact us.

All monies derived from this effort will go to the “Free Care Fund” which provides for patients at the St. Barnabas Nursing Homes who can no longer afford their care.

We are looking forward to presenting jazz as it is meant to be heard – a quiet setting and great ambiance for an appreciative audience.

Please join us for a lovely evening of melodic music and help support a worthy cause.
Looking forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Brooks and Helen Bartlett

ANNOUCEMENT – Jazz Cabaret at St. Barnabas

The Bartletts of “Jazz in the Meadow” are collaborating with the St. Barnabas Health System to present a Jazz Cabaret at St. Barnabas.  The performances will take place at the Kean Theatre annex – the Mt. Vernon Room – at Washington Place.   This is located at 5847 Meridian Road, Gibsonia, PA 15044.

This will be a retro presentation of the jazz cabaret genre – a place where one can sit back, relax, and listen to music from the “great American songbook” – a setting for a quiet interlude where one can go and hear songs that have a melody and lyrics that you can hear and understand – music for jazz lovers and all music lovers.  We have arranged for the very best regional cabaret singers and musical artists to entertain.

There will be a cash bar with adult beverages and soft drinks.  Free savory appetizers will be provided as well as free parking.  Tickets are $25.00 per couple, $12.50 per person.

Our plan is to present this on a quarterly basis.  The series will start Wednesday, July 30, 2014, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.  when the Donna Bailey Trio will perform.

Our motivation is altruistic.  We are promoting good jazz and the mission of St. Barnabas.  St. Barnabas is a non-profit health system providing skilled nursing care and assisted living facilities as well as a variety of independent living settings.  Currently, St. Barnabas provides free nursing care in the amount of 6 million dollars annually for the financially indigent patients.  Any monies accrued from our cabaret will go to the Free Care Fund.

We presently have several sponsors who will provide our start-up expenses. However if anyone wishes to join us in this philanthropic endeavor, please feel free to contact us.

Please join us in bringing back cabaret  jazz as it was meant to be heard in a quiet romantic setting with other jazz lovers and friends.

Sincerely,

Brooks and Helen Bartlett
